If we see Sonic Heroes as a sequel to the adventure games, then yeah she's definitely regressed. Although I think that context is important, Sonic Heroes was the first mainline game to go multiplatform, so I think that they wanted to: 1- Portray the characters's key traits while... 2- Not going too deep into any given character. She promised herself to tone down her obsession with Sonic, but that obsession has been her main character trait up to that point. So as an entry point, Sonic Heroes was put in a position in which it had to regress some characters back to their status-quo, with the most notorious example being Amy.

I also feel like Sonic was flawed in the series too. To a large extent. Notice how he depended on Shadow to save him and protect him? Sonic should be more than capable of protecting himself. He is the main character after all. Sonic Prime could’ve been good, but in the end, it was just a waste of potential.

This video misses the point of Eggman. He can be both funny and a threat. What makes him threatening isn't his personality, it's the things he does. Other characters making jokes at his expensive doesn't detract from the fact that he's an evil, cruel man. Him being a silly manchild doesn't detract from that either. Eggman is one of the things the Pontaff era got right.

The character of sonic has influenced me so majorly as a kid. From heroic rebelliousness, a philosophy of freedom, and doing good by goods sake. As cheesy and probably borderline cringe as it sounds, sonic was and still kinda stands as my hero and someone to look up to This damn franchise about a blue hedgehog that runs fast has had such a massive effect on my life Also had an influence on me to make really bad jokes

I always wondered about the unimportant question of “Where does Eggman get his money to build entire armies, fleets, high-tech piloted contraptions, and sprawling complexes”?

If Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) had been released before Sonic Heroes (both chronologically and IRL release wise), it would have solved the character regression issue we have, cause him being an anti hero/villain powerful hedgehog until the very end would make sense since he got the amnesia from saving the Earth at the end of Sonic Adventure 2, therefore making him an easy character for players to make him choose between the path of evil and the path of good. Sure, some rewrites would need to be done to both games to make the chronology change happen, but it would still be much better if Sonic Heroes had been set after Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) instead of before it.

This thing could’ve been the Ultron or Brainiac level threat to Sonic but instead, he is last week’s discount Sonic doppelgänger until next week’s dark twin comes, then the following week after and the next after that. Metal Sonic is just there now and has no threatening presence, purpose or personality.

I will never, I repeat, NEVER forgive both Sega and Ian Flynn doing that one thing that fundamentally murdered Tails potential character growth: By turning him into a huge pussy with his tails between his legs over threats that he single handedly defeated before. This character assassination is just as bad as Luke Skywalker in 2017 which ironically both assassinations took place at the same time.

She’s a damsel copout to the most annoying and unbearable yandere stalker stereotype I’ve ever seen. Even her randomly ass-shoved “maturity” she got and didn’t earned from out of nowhere in IDW, doesn’t justify her for anything. She’s a stalker who can’t and refuse to take a goddamn hint, even went so far to vocally say she’ll let billions die, even her own friend Cream, to keep someone who doesn’t even like her. I despised Amy Rose ever since I jumped into this delusional fandom and franchise 20 years ago. She’s now BARELY 2nd to 3rd place in my worst Sonic “character” list with Elise and Chris. I only tolerate the Boom version because she’s everything the original should’ve been from the start but instead, Boom Amy was used as a cheap excuse for a “hot fix” on the current Amy just to shut the critics up. Critics that are right and have every right to criticize what a travesty Amy Rose is compared to literally any and every other female video game character out there. Peach maybe the epitome of a flat female portrayal but I rather that her over Amy’s crazy ass, any day.

At this point, they’re not even qualified as “characters” since they have no characters or anymore development then a cameo in an MCU movie. They’re just stereotypical shoehorns whose sole purpose is to be a gimmick for a game or two and be forgotten like a rejected step child. But I find it even more insulting that Big the fucking Cat, the most pointless “character” in existence, gets more attention than someone like Blaze who’s ripe with potential in terms of good storytelling and character development. Humor me this Sonic fans: Outside of one or two minor trait-like details about any of these gimmicky Skittles stand-ins, what else can you tell me about these “characters”? Nothing because none of them, other than Shadow who’s origin and plot is still an inconsistent mess without a definitive direction explaining everything about how he came to be, literally have no story or direction that defines them and even if or when they do, Sega fucks them up later because they can’t keep shit consistent for more than two games or other media entries to save their own lives.

Hopefullly we end up getting Sonic & Knuckles Unleashed with Angel Island as a whole new stage.

He deserves to be added to Smash, both Cloud and Sephiroth are in despite both being FF characters, so there's no reason why Eggman, who should be far easier to negotiate for, could be added as well. Hopefully Ultimate is just ported over to the Switch successor so Eggman could actually join the Ultimate Brawl in Smash History. Maybe they could add a Death Egg Robot boss as well for World of Light and Classic Mode and rework a few characters routes around him.

Honestly do we even know if what Mephiles was saying about Shadow's future was even true? He is one of the most unsubtle depictions of an actual demonic entity in non-overtly Christian media, so he could easily have been making shit up with fancy illusions to back his works up, like what he kind of did when manipulating Silver. He's literally named after an irl demon and a powerful one at that so Mephiles could easily just be lying to try to tempt Shadow to his side.

In conclusion; the show sucks

I always thought of Sonic Mania's inclusion of Stardust Speedway as a little nod to what was shown in Generations, (e.g. SSZ Bad Future) with Sonic essentially returning to fix his mistake. It also causes the true ending to make sense (Little Planet finally being freed).
